The short version
From the auction block to the grow yard
Darin's father was a rancher, and Darin was in the business early — marketing cattle and horses at auction by the time he was nineteen.
In 1997 he won the International Auctioneer Championship, and started buying cattle throughout Alberta and British Columbia. The work carried him further — Oregon, Montana, California, Washington, Oklahoma — shipping grass cattle and living a long way from home.
What he wanted was a way to do this business without being away from his family so much. So he moved into dairy and beef-on-dairy, founded Clagg Cattle Co in 2004, and built it on the one thing that travels with you: a reputation for cattle that perform and show up healthy.

Darin has spent his working life around cattle — auctioneering, buying across Canada and the western states, and since 2004 placing and marketing holstein and beef-on-dairy calves out of grow systems he knows by name. He won the International Auctioneer Championship in 1997.
